Why eat bread?
Bread is an important part of the daily diet, rich in carbohydrate and low in fat. It is a good source of vitamins and minerals, in particular calcium, iron, B vitamins and folic acid. Wholemeal and malted grain are good providers of fibre, and can help reduce the risk of heart disease and cancers.
A healthy diet means getting the balance of nutrients right, and this applies when eating bread. By adding other ingredients from different food groups we can achieve this. Bread is such a versatile food and can be served simply as a healthy sandwich, or as part of a main meal such as a Caesar salad. Check out our recipe database for lots of delicious ideas.
